12 Books

We all know that reading is fundamental to success in school and in life, yet many young children in our own community have few or no books in their homes. Mesa United Way's 12 Books program is beginning to change that, but we need your help. Last spring, thanks to an outpouring of community support, we were able to provide each kindergartner in five targeted elementary schools with 12 books to read during the summer. This coming spring we would like to expand to more schools with an ultimate goal of providing books to kindergartners in 11 targeted schools that are in Mesa's lower-income neighborhoods.
There are several ways you can help:

Click HERE to donate. Whether you donate $2 to buy one book or $680 to provide an entire classroom with books, your contribution is appreciated and will make a difference.

Click HERE to purchase books through Amazon.com's 12 Books Wish List.

Click HERE to volunteer:
1) Hold a book drive to collect new and gently used books
2) Come to one of our monthly service events to clean and repair donated books
3) Organize a funraising event to raise money so we can purchase books
(Any of these can be a good Eagle Scout or Group service project.)
