Together, with very little effort and no cost, we can reduce the cost of medicine by up to 75 percent. We know it sounds too good to be true, but it's not. Mesa-area individuals and families have saved more than $1.4 million on prescription medicine through Mesa United Way's partnership with FamilyWize, and nationally the program has helped more than 8.3 million people save more than $861 million.
Niney-five percent of the pharmacies nationwide have agreed to provide lower pricing to everyone who brings in a FamilyWize prescription drug discount card. Mesa United Way is one of more than 1,000 local United Ways nationwide that partner with FamilyWize.
"We'd like to see every person in our community who is unemployed, uninsured, has to buy medicine not covered by their health plan or government program, or is unable to get the medicine they need for any reason, get a FamilyWize card," said Dan Wollam, president and CEO of Mesa United Way. "We also encourage them to see what other services we can refer them to — the local food banks and pantries, utility and housing assistance, and more. We know these are still hard times for many people and we're here to help."
The FamilyWize card covers all prescription drugs for everyone with no health insurance or prescription coverage, as well as all medicine not covered by insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or other benefit plans. There is no age restriction, no registration, no activation, paperwork, or other enrollment. No personal information is collected. And all this at NO COST to Mesa United Way.
IT'S EASY: Simply present your card and prescription to a participating pharmacy to obtain the discounted price. You always receive the lower of the discounted price or pharmacy's retail price.
NO RESTRICTIONS: You can use the card as often as you need, for any prescription for everyone in your family. There is no income limit, age requirement, eligibility or registration required and no maximum allowable. However, the FamilyWize card cannot be used with any other prescription card.
